1. Quality Management System Deployment
• Establish, deploy, and maintain management systems in accordance with:
o ISO 9001 (Quality Management)
o ISO 22000 / FSSC22000 (Food Safety)
o GMP, 5S, BRC, SMETA, ECOVADIS
• Ensure full compliance with the latest international and national regulations for foodcontact materials, including but not limited to:
o U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
o European Union Framework
o Commission Regulation (EU) 2025/

o Vietnamese National Regulations
• Develop and implement quality standards, procedures, and work instructions
(SOPs, WIs, QC Standards) for all stages of coated and printed metal
products and metal packaging products.
• Ensure full compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and legal regulations for both food and industrial packaging.
2. Product Quality Control – Incoming, In-Process, and Final
a) Incoming Raw Materials (IQC)
• Establish Raw Material Specifications for all critical inputs:
o Tinplate and TFS (tin-free steel): thickness, hardness, temper, tin
coating weight, surface roughness, flatness, and oil content.
o Printing inks (solvent-based, UV-curable, heat-resistant): viscosity,
fineness, colour strength, drying time, adhesion, and heat/chemical
resistance.
o Coatings (internal and external – epoxy, polyester, acrylic, etc.): solids content, viscosity, pH, cure profile, adhesion, corrosion
resistance, and organoleptic properties (for food contact).
o Solvents and surface treatment chemicals: purity and effect on
adhesion.
• Evaluate, approve, and monitor supplier quality performance; handle supplier
non-conformances with robust CAPA.
b) In-Process Quality Control (IPQC) – Coating Line
• Define control plans for the coating (lacquering) process:
o Monitor wet/dry coating thickness (using magnetic or eddy-current
gauges).
o Test adhesion via cross-hatch tape test and bend/cupping tests.
o Check surface hardness (pencil test), gloss, colour uniformity, and
scratch resistance.
o Verify impact resistance and forming behaviour.
o Monitor curing oven profile (temperature and dwell time) to ensure
complete polymerisation.
c) In-Process Quality Control (IPQC) – Metal Offset Printing
• Set up stringent quality checks for the metal decorating (offset printing)
line: Internal Use - Confidential
o Colour control: use spectrophotometer to measure ΔE (CIE Lab)
against approved Pantone/CMYK standards.
o Print definition: inspect dot sharpness, register accuracy, and
uniformity using magnifiers and gauges.
o Ink adhesion: cross-cut and tape tests on printed surfaces.
o Resistance tests: heat resistance (for retortable cans), chemical
resistance, and scratch/abrasion tests.
o Common defect detection: hickies, streaks, scumming, ghosting,
misregistration, plate/blanket wear, and surface scratches.
o Monitor plate and blanket quality before and during printing.
d) In-Process and Final Quality Control – Forming (Can Making)
• Implement inspection criteria for welding, beading, flanging, and sealing:
o Weld seam strength and integrity (for resistance-welded or cemented
seams).
o Dimensional accuracy (diameter, height, ovality).
o Mechanical tests: peel test, burst test, drop test, and pressure resistance
(for beverage/beer cans).
o Surface quality after forming: no coating/print damage, no scratches.
o Leak tightness and seal integrity (for food cans and closures).
e) Laboratory Operations & Advanced Testing
• Manage the QA/QC laboratory, establishing and maintaining test methods for:
o Adhesion (pull-off, cross-cut, and tape).
o Hardness (pencil, Buchholz).
o Gloss measurement.
o Film thickness (magnetic/eddy-current).
o Chemical resistance (to acids, alkalis, solvents, and food simulants).
o Organoleptic testing (odour and taste panels for food-contact packaging;
GC-MS if available).
o Accelerated corrosion testing (salt spray).
o Bend and cupping tests for formability.
• Analyse QC data using Control Charts, Pareto, Cpk/Pp to evaluate trends,
risks, and trigger preventive actions.
• Make acceptance/rejection decisions for incoming materials and finished
goods.
3. Customer Complaint Management & Continuous Improvement

• Receive and investigate customer complaints using 8D, 5 Whys,
Fishbone combined with in-depth technical analysis (coating, printing, or forming root causes).
• Lead the implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) for both internal and customer-related issues.
• Promote a quality culture and drive Kaizen, PDCA, and TPM Q-Pillar initiatives to achieve zero-defect objectives.
• Coordinate with R&D and Production in New Product Introduction (NPI), new
material trials, and new process validation.
4. System Development, Training & Audit
a) Quality Training & People Development
• Promote quality awareness throughout the organisation.
• Develop and deliver technical training programs for operations teams (from
production to sales) to enable ownership of product quality.
• Recruit, train, evaluate, and develop the QA/QC team, building deep technical
capability in metal printing, coating, and can-making technologies.
• Create specific training modules on:
o Coating and printing defect recognition.
o Use of QC instruments and test methods.
o Root cause analysis and problem-solving tools.
b) Audit & Compliance
• Lead internal audits, supplier audits, and preparation for external
certification/surveillance audits.
• Manage QMS documentation (version control, distribution, archiving).
• Ensure compliance with all legal regulations on product quality, food safety (where applicable), and product labelling.
• Stay updated on new industry and market standards (e.g., EU Packaging Directive, REACH, etc.) and implement necessary changes.
5. Supplier & Incoming Material Management
• Establish quality standards and technical requirements for all raw materials
(detailed in section 2a).
• Evaluate, approve, and monitor supplier quality performance.
• Manage supplier-related non-conformances and drive corrective actions.
6. Reporting & KPIs
• Prepare and submit periodic quality reports (daily/weekly/monthly) to COO and BOD, including: Internal Use - Confidential
o Key performance indicators (defect rate, scrap rate, customer complaint
ratio).
o Process capability indices (Cpk/Pp) for critical parameters (coating
thickness, colour deviation, can dimensions).
o Trend analysis by production stage (coating, printing, forming).
o Summary of non-conformances, CAPA status, and audit results.
o Retention sample test results and stability data.
7. Budget & Laboratory Management
• Prepare and manage the operating budget for QA/QC and Laboratory.
• Propose investments in new testing equipment, inspection tools, and quality
management software.
• Optimise laboratory efficiency and resource utilisation.
8. R&D & Product Development Support
• Collaborate with R&D to evaluate new inks, coatings, and substrate materials
(including low-migration inks for food safety, BPA-free internal coatings, and
environmentally friendly alternatives).
• Participate in NPI by designing validation plans (including mechanical, chemical, and food-safety tests) and assessing manufacturability at scale.
• Monitor product quality and manufacturing performance to propose continuous improvement solutions (formulation, process, or raw material changes).
• Control R&D costs to ensure economic efficiency while fostering innovation.
9. Other Duties

• Minimum 5–7 years of proven experience in a quality management or senior QA/QC role within the metal packaging, metal decorating, or can-making industry.
• Hands-on experience with coating, offset printing on metal, and forming
processes (2-piece or 3-piece can manufacturing) is advantage.
• Deep knowledge of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and instruments used for metal packaging (thickness gauges, adhesion testers, colour spectrophotometers, etc.).
• Proven track record of successfully implementing Quality Assurance
programs and driving continuous improvement (TPM, Six Sigma, Kaizen).
Internal Use - Confidential
• Experience working with international customers (FMCG, dairy, paint, chemical) and handling their factory audits/quality requirements.
• Certifications in Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or Quality Auditor are a strong plus.
• Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills; proficiency in English is desirable.
