We are re-platforming a national public-sector system in the EU: ~750 screens of a legacy client-server 4GL (Uniface), rebuilt as a modern Java/Spring + React application on top of an Oracle database.

The hardest question on this project is not "does the new code work" — it is "does the new system do exactly what the old one does". Every migration wave has to clear that bar before it goes live. At 750 screens and thousands of business rules, that cannot be proven by hand — it has to be proven by a test system: an automated, repeatable verification machine that compares old and new on every wave.

That machine does not exist yet. You build it. You design the test architecture, you set up the AI-driven workflow that turns business rules into executable tests at scale, you lead two QA/BA engineers who work inside that system, and you make the go / no-go call for every wave. You work from the specification owned by the BA Lead — and you send it back when it is not testable.

What you will do

• Test each migration wave against the legacy system and verify that the new system behaves as expected.
• Design and execute functional, regression, integration and exploratory tests.
• Create detailed test cases and test scenarios based on business requirements and specifications.
• Investigate the legacy application to understand existing workflows, validations and business rules.
• Compare old and new system behaviour and identify functional differences.
• Check data directly in Oracle using SQL to verify that records and business results are correct.
• Report defects clearly, including steps to reproduce, expected results, actual results and supporting evidence.
• Retest fixes and perform regression testing before releases.
• Support UAT with the client, including test scenario preparation, execution and issue tracking.
• Work closely with developers and BA team members to analyse and resolve defects.
• Contribute to the automated regression suite and gradually expand automation coverage.
• Maintain test documentation and ensure adequate coverage for each migration wave.
• Use AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude to support test-case creation, test analysis, documentation and repetitive QA activities.

Your Skills and Experience

• 3+ years of experience in QA/testing, preferably on business-critical or enterprise applications.
• Strong understanding of software testing principles, methodologies and QA processes.
• Ability to analyse business requirements and translate them into meaningful test scenarios and test cases.
• Experience with functional and regression testing of web or business applications.
• Good SQL skills and the ability to independently verify data in a relational database.
• Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to investigating issues.
• Ability to understand complex business processes and identify missing or unclear requirements.
• Experience using Jira / Confluence and test management tools such as Xray, TestRail or similar.
• Good communication skills and ability to work closely with developers, BA and business stakeholders.
• Working English — Fluent
• Comfortable working AI-first and using AI tools regularly to improve productivity and testing quality.

Nice to have

• Experience with test automation using Playwright, Selenium, Cypress or similar.
• API testing experience with REST / Postman / Newman or similar.
• Basic scripting or programming knowledge.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Oracle or other relational databases.
• Accessibility testing experience, particularly WCAG.
• Experience with legacy-system migration, parallel testing, reconciliation or cutover testing.
• Experience in public-sector, banking, insurance, pension, social security or other complex business domains.
• Basic understanding of Java/Spring, React or REST APIs.
