Manufacturing Engineer (MEG)_Co-Operative Education Program (1 year)

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

• The student will be exposed to and expected to learn the basics in the many different technologies used at Samtec.  These may include but are not limited to the following:
• 3D / Parametric part and tooling design
• Dimensional, electrical, and force analysis equipment
• Automated and hand assembly equipment and processes including those employing vision technology
• Using CAD software (Solidworks), Design all mechanical elements of either manual, semi-automatic or fully automatic tooling and equipment used in volume production in Samtec’s assembly processes.
• Support Production in troubleshooting issues regarding Safety; Quality; Tooling,…
• Data analysis for improvement project, apply Pareto chart, Root cause analysis,…,IE form Communicate in a collaborative environment to provide mechanical design support for the design needs of internal customers.
• Validate that Product Quality and Process Reliability are designed into all projects through project qualifications.
• Understand the purposes and review of project costing and margin requirements with applications engineering.
• Ensures the project delivered is compliant with all relevant OSHA, ANSI and local standards in respect to the design and engineering work practices.
• Conduct regular project meetings with the project team throughout the project on: Machine/Equipment/Tooling design and status and Controls/Systems design and status.

Required Experience

• Final-year students majoring in
• Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Robotics, and related fields
• Minimum GPA of
• 2.8 /4.0 i n relevant fields of study
• Commitment to complete fully 130 days/year
• Have
• English Skills (Speaking&Writing)
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a team and proactive attitude
• Strong analytical skill; problem solving mindset and willing to work on shopfloor
• Ability to use SolidWorks and MS Office Suite, and general computer literacy.
• Effective time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects
• Eager to gain new expertise and quick to pick up required skills
• Demonstration of flexibility, innovation, customer service, and ability to create win/win solutions
• Must be able to sit/stand for at least 90 consecutive minutes.
