Lab Engineer in Water Analysis

Job Summary

• Support the development and succeed of the of Master Study Program in Water Technology, Reuse and Management

• Testing the contaminants in water, solid, gas samples mainly using ICP-MS, GC-MS/MS or LC-MS/MS

• Supervise student in doing thesis

• Participate in the research/service projects

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Daily responsibilities

• Maintain Water Analysis laboratory equipment through regular service and repair

• Perform acceptance tests of new equipment

• Manage laboratory consumables and purchase requests for minor equipment

• Implement and maintain laboratory safety

• Developing, setting up, and conducting laboratory experiments for courses of the study program

• Supervising students conducting laboratory experiments and assess their laboratory reports

• Assisting students in projects, such as bachelor and master theses

• Taking part in demonstrations and exhibitions for larger VGU's events such as Opening Ceremonies or Education Fairs, as well as academic events such as conferences and student recruitment

• Cooperating with other laboratory engineers

Periodic/Irregular responsibilities

• Supporting research projects under the guidance of faculty

• Acting as invigilator for exams of all study programs, if required

Other duties

• Implementing other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Position Relationships

Report to: Director of Research Center, Dean, Vice Dean(s)

Supervise: Bachelor and master student

Working Conditions/Environment

• General office environment

• Regular working hours, very seldom weekend works required

Position Requirements

Qualification

• Master degree in Chemistry/Biology/Environmental/Water Engineering

Knowledge

• Environmental Analysis for Water, Solid and Gas samples using ICP-MS, GC-MS/MS or LC/MS/MS

Skills

• Good in English both in written and orally

• Good manners of expression, and organizational skills

• Good command in using MS Office Software

• Creative, initiative, can-do attitude

• Be able to work efficiently, independent and self-organized

Experience

• Experience in using ICP-MS, GC-MS/MS or LC-MS/MS systems in toxic chemical analysis

• At least 2 years experiences in Environmental Analysis Laboratory

• Knowledge in ISO 17025, VILAS and VIMCERT procedures

Work Location & Working Time

Work location: Vietnamese – German University, Ring Road 4, Quarter 4, Thoi Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City (Old address: Ben Cat City, Binh Duong).

Working time: 8:30 – 16:30 Monday - Friday
