About the Department

The Technology & Operations function is comprised of five teams of specialists with distinct capabilities: business partnership, technology, operations, risk governance and planning support and services. We work closely together to harness the power of technology to support our physical and digital banking services and operations. This includes developing, centralising and standardising technology systems as well as banking operations in Singapore and overseas branches.

Overview of the Role

• Implement, manage, and maintain enterprise IT infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, operating systems, and Microsoft SQL Server databases.

• Ensure robust and secure operations through best practices in server/database hardening, patching, monitoring, and lifecycle management.

Job Responsibilities

1. Server Infrastructure

• Perform end-to-end server administration including capacity monitoring, patching, performance tuning, and log analysis.

• Deploy and maintain Windows Server and Red Hat Linux environments aligned with security and compliance standards.

• Implement server hardening measures including OS baseline configuration, vulnerability remediation, and access control enforcement.

• Manage virtualization environments (VMware), including provisioning and optimization.

2. Microsoft SQL Server Database Management (Enhanced & Specific Scope)

• Install, configure, and administer Microsoft SQL Server environments (2016/2019/2022 or later) across development, UAT, and production.

• Design and implement SQL Server architecture, including:

o Always On Availability Groups (AG)

o Failover Clustering Instances (FCI)

• Perform SQL Server instance setup and configuration, including:

o Instance-level configuration (memory allocation, tempdb optimization, CPU settings)

o Storage and filegroup design

o Collation and database parameter configuration

• Manage database lifecycle activities, including installation, migration, upgrades, and decommissioning.

• Administer and optimize:

o Database performance tuning (execution plans, indexing strategies, query optimization)

o SQL Server jobs, maintenance plans, and automation scripts

• Implement and maintain:

o Backup and recovery strategies (full, differential, log backups) aligned with RPO/RTO

• Configure and manage:

o Security and access control (roles, schemas, least privilege principles)

o Data encryption (TDE, SSL/TLS)

o Auditing and compliance logging

• Monitor and troubleshoot:

o Database performance using SQL Profiler, Extended Events, DMVs, and monitoring tools

o Blocking, deadlocks, long-running queries, and database contention issues

• Ensure database synchronization and replication across multi-site environments.

3. Collaboration & Governance

• Work closely with application teams, infrastructure teams, and vendors to support database and server-related initiatives.

• Provide regular reporting on database health, performance, incidents, and risks.

• Participate in infrastructure design for new systems and transformation projects.

• Ensure compliance with internal IT policies, audit requirements, and regulatory standards.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

• Minimum 10 years of experience in IT infrastructure, with strong focus on Microsoft SQL Server database administration.

• Proven experience in enterprise SQL Server design, implementation, and optimization.

• Hands-on experience in high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) solutions.

• Infrastructure & Platform Skills: Proficiency in Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux, VMware virtualization technologies

• Strong knowledge of Server hardening and patch management, Enterprise storage and backup systems, Monitoring and alerting tools

• Security & Compliance Experience in, Database and server hardening best practices, Vulnerability assessment and remediation, Audit and compliance enforcement

• Experience working with regional/global teams (Group/Head Office collaboration is a plus).
