Our client is a leading international footwear company with a strong global presence, recognized for its commitment to product innovation, quality, and performance. The company is seeking an experienced Senior R&D Laboratory Manager to lead its R&D Performance Laboratory in Hanoi, driving innovation in material testing, product performance evaluation, and advanced testing capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Laboratory Management & Team Leadership

• Oversee daily operations of the R&D Performance Laboratory, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and quality.
• Lead, coach, and develop laboratory technicians; establish objectives, allocate responsibilities, and monitor performance.
• Manage laboratory budgets, control operating expenses, and optimize resources.

2. R&D Testing & Continuous Improvement

• Lead testing and performance evaluation of new footwear materials, components, compounds, bottom materials, and finished products.
• Research, develop, and improve test methods, procedures, and performance standards.
• Identify and recommend testing technologies, equipment, and processes to enhance laboratory capabilities.
• Collaborate with Innovation, Technical Support, Product Development, and Production teams to evaluate material properties and product performance.
• Coordinate with reputable third-party laboratories for specialized testing.

3. Testing Method & Equipment Development

• Lead cross-functional initiatives to develop customized testing methods, equipment, and processes for innovative materials and products.
• Identify critical performance attributes and establish appropriate testing solutions with Innovation and technical teams.
• Validate and implement new or improved testing methods and equipment.
• Collaborate with production laboratories to standardize testing across development, commercialization, and manufacturing.
• Train production laboratory teams on new testing methods, equipment, and procedures.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline; Master's degree preferred.
• At least 10 years of experience in footwear laboratory management.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in footwear manufacturing laboratories.
• At least 1–2 years of relevant experience in apparel and/or handbag testing.
• Strong knowledge of footwear materials, compounds, components, and finished-product performance testing.
• Experience developing, improving, or implementing laboratory test methods, procedures, and equipment.
• Familiarity with international testing standards and laboratory quality management practices.

• Strong leadership, team development, and laboratory management capabilities.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical evaluation skills.
• Ability to lead cross-functional technical projects and collaborate with regional or global teams.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive salary: 12 months' base salary plus a guaranteed 13th-month salary.
• Performance bonus: Additional 14th-month bonus based on performance.

• Working hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:30 PM, with lunch 12:00–1:00 PM.
• Work-life balance: Overtime generally discouraged; approved overtime compensated according to company policy.
