1. Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced engineer to support VinFast's Perceived Quality team by checking 3D styling surfaces and engineering CAD models against Design Technical Specifications (DTS). Using CATIA V5, you will create sections, measure Gap & Flush, identify deviations, document findings, and check revised CAD data before TKO (Tooling Kick-Off) and other design milestones.

Alongside daily checking, you will organize work within your assigned scope, investigate more complex findings, and recommend practical corrections with Perceived Quality and design teams.

We welcome engineers with at least 2 years of relevant experience in mechanical or product design, CAD, assembly, tooling, dimensional inspection, manufacturing, or product quality. Prior DTS Checker, DMU, or Gap & Flush experience is an advantage. Strong transferable engineering skills, the ability to learn the product, and good spoken English for technical work are essential.

2. Responsibilities and Duties

Technical Ownership and Problem Solving

Alongside the hands-on checking duties below, you will:

- Plan and prioritize checks: Independently organize checks for an assigned product area, prioritizing critical interfaces and pending CAD revisions against project deadlines.

- Analyze causes and recommend corrections: Investigate complex or recurring deviations using component geometry, tolerances, and assembly context; explain the likely causes and the impact of proposed corrections on fit and appearance.

- Turn findings into product insights: Summarize recurring findings and their product implications,highlighting recommended actions and decisions needed from design or Perceived Quality owners.

- Coordinate issue resolution: Agree action owners and due dates, follow up on assigned issues, and escalate unresolved risks with a clear technical recommendation.

CAD Verification and DTS Checking

- Perform CAD verification activities using CATIA V5 to evaluate compliance with Design Technical Specifications (DTS).

- Review and validate 3D styling surfaces, engineering CAD models, and related design data.

- Create and analyze section cuts in CATIA to evaluate Gap & Flush conditions and dimensional compliance, using measurement and annotation tools to support verification.

- Verify CAD geometry against nominal DTS requirements and engineering standards.

- Identify, document, and track design deviations and non-conformities.

Perceived Quality and Design Review Support

- Support Perceived Quality activities related to fit, finish, alignment, and visual quality assessments.

- Evaluate product design data from the perspective of assembly quality, appearance quality, and manufacturability.

- Participate in design reviews and support engineering teams in identifying potential quality risks before TKO (Tooling Kick-Off) release.

- Collaborate with Perceived Quality engineers to clarify DTS requirements and recommend corrective actions for identified deviations.

- Support implementation and verification of corrective actions related to DTS findings.

CAD Data and Documentation Management

- Maintain records of CAD verification activities, findings, and engineering review status.

- Prepare technical reports, audit summaries, issue tracking logs, and weekly progress reports detailing work evolution and highlighting major risk items.

- Support documentation of engineering countermeasures and design modifications.

- Ensure consistency of CAD verification data throughout project milestones.

Engineering Coordination

- Collaborate with Perceived Quality engineers, design engineers, manufacturing teams, and project stakeholders to clarify DTS requirements.

- Communicate design deviations and support resolution activities with responsible engineering teams.

- Support engineering reviews throughout vehicle development and release processes.

- Participate in cross-functional meetings, including coordination with OEM leadership, to review design quality and project risks.

3. Qualifications, Skills and Competencies

Education

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Product Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering field.

Language

- Good spoken English for day-to-day engineering work and technical meetings with customer and cross-functional teams.

- Able to independently explain a CAD finding, discuss product and assembly issues, ask follow-up questions, compare options, and justify a recommendation in English.

- Able to understand technical discussions and confirm agreed actions, responsibilities, and next steps without relying on another person to interpret routine work conversations.

- Able to read engineering specifications and write clear issue descriptions, meeting summaries, and progress reports in English.

Technical Skills

Required

- Practical experience with at least one 3D CAD system, such as CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or Creo, including inspecting parts and assemblies and using sections or measurements to investigate an engineering issue.

- Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret dimensions and tolerances, with a basic understanding of GD&T.

- Engineering fundamentals relevant to component fit, alignment, manufacturing, or assembly; ability to explain how a design or tolerance can affect the product.

- Ability to compare evidence with a technical requirement, investigate a discrepancy, and communicate a reasoned conclusion or proposed next action.

- Ability to organize assigned work, document findings clearly, and learn unfamiliar product requirements and checking methods. The work is performed in CATIA V5; applicants from other CAD platforms must be able to transfer their skills to this workflow.

Preferred

- Hands-on proficiency in CATIA V5, including sectioning, measurement, and annotation tools.

- Direct experience in DTS checking, automotive Gap & Flush evaluation, Perceived Quality, or Fit & Finish assessment.

- Experience in DMU validation, packaging, clearance or interference checks, or assembly fit analysis.

- Familiarity with OEM-specific DTS standards and vehicle development or design release processes.

- Experience with Teamcenter or another PLM/PDM system for finding CAD data, tracking revisions, or supporting design release.

- Experience in automotive, motorcycle, EV, or related manufacturing projects.

- Ability to develop 2D sketches and use Microsoft Office for technical reporting.

- Experience coordinating an engineering work package, reviewing others' outputs, or supporting technical decisions. A formal team-lead title is not required.

Experience

- At least 2 years of relevant professional engineering experience. This does not need to be 2 years specifically in DTS checking, DMU, or Gap & Flush.

- Relevant experience may come from one or more areas: mechanical/product design, CAD modeling or checking, assembly engineering, tooling, dimensional inspection, manufacturing engineering, or product/supplier quality involving engineering drawings and CAD data. Experience in every area is not required.

- Examples of diagnosing a product or process issue, evaluating an engineering change, improving fit or assembly, or coordinating a technical action are valuable, even without a DTS, DMU, automotive, or senior job title.

- The senior scope calls for ownership and sound judgment. Candidates should be able to describe work they handled independently, how they reached a conclusion, and how they worked with others to resolve the issue.

- Willingness to learn specialist DTS, DMU, and Gap & Flush methods and apply agreed criteria consistently.
