We are looking for a Product Development Manager to lead food and beverage development projects from concept and testing through to successful commercial launch.

The role covers product development, ingredient and supplier evaluation, sensory testing, cost analysis and optimization, product specification and commercialization. You will work closely with Marketing, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, Regulatory, Finance, Legal and other functions to ensure new products meet customer expectations, quality standards and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development & Project Management

• Lead new food and beverage product development projects from testing and execution through to launch.
• Develop and manage project timelines, budgets and cross-functional activities to ensure successful delivery.
• Drive cost optimization projects through alternative ingredients, materials and manufacturing processes.
• Identify and evaluate alternative suppliers to reduce business risks and supplier dependency.
• Proactively identify product and project risks and implement corrective actions.

Sensory Testing & Product Quality

• Partner with Category Managers and product development teams on sensory testing and product development.
• Ensure products meet customer expectations and defined product standards.
• Manage product development systems and documentation in compliance with relevant regulations.
• Ensure product testing and analysis are conducted accurately and efficiently.

Product Improvement

• Analyse product performance, customer feedback and market trends to identify opportunities for product enhancement.
• Evaluate alternative ingredients and materials to improve products and reduce costs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product quality, efficiency and overall performance.

Process Management & Laboratory

• Establish and maintain Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) procedures in accordance with applicable regulatory guidelines.
• Develop and maintain documentation including study protocols, experimental data, laboratory records and reports.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
• Stay updated on relevant GLP regulations, guidelines and industry best practices.
• Oversee laboratory activities including raw material and ingredient sampling, testing and prototype development.

Supplier & Partner Management

• Manage relationships with external suppliers, vendors and business partners.
• Ensure high-quality products and materials are delivered on time and within budget.

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in the food & beverage or retail industry.
• At least 3 years of experience in product development and/or F&B project management.
• Proven experience managing cross-functional product development projects.
• Strong understanding of product development processes, including ideation, prototyping, testing and launching.
• Strong knowledge of food ingredients/materials and their properties, with the ability to evaluate their suitability for existing and new products.
• Knowledge of food safety, quality control and packaging.
• Good understanding of supply chain operations.
• Experience identifying and implementing process improvements and cost optimization initiatives.
• Sensory science experience is preferred.
• Experience with GLP, laboratory procedures and product testing is an advantage.
• Strong project management, planning and organizational skills.
• Strong leadership, communication and coordination skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Fluent English in speaking and writing.
