Key Responsibilities

1. Structural Design & Product Development

• Develop structural packaging designs and technical drawings using CAD software, utilizing existing folding carton templates or creating customized designs.
• Create innovative and practical carton designs that meet product protection, display, functionality, and manufacturing requirements.
• Prepare physical samples and prototypes for customer evaluation, testing, and approval, ensuring proper identification and documentation.
• Generate detailed design specifications, dimensional drawings, and technical documentation for customers, sales teams, and manufacturing operations.
• Develop cutting templates and layouts to support production feasibility assessments and cost estimation.
• Continuously optimize packaging structures and layouts to improve material efficiency, production performance, and cost-effectiveness.

2. Customer Engagement & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Participate in customer meetings, design briefings, and technical consultations to understand packaging requirements and recommend suitable design solutions.
• Collaborate closely with sales, customer service, production, and graphic design teams throughout the product development process.
• Coordinate with regional and international structural design teams to exchange technical expertise and obtain design support when required.
• Work with graphic designers to develop visual representations and mock-ups of printed cartons, helping customers visualize the final packaging.
• Provide technical support to customers and internal stakeholders regarding packaging structures, materials, and manufacturing feasibility.

3. Production Support & Quality Assurance

• Ensure CAD files and technical drawings are compatible with graphic design, pre-press processes, and die-making requirements.
• Coordinate with manufacturing teams and external suppliers to ensure packaging designs can be efficiently converted into finished products.
• Review artwork, color proofs, die-cut specifications, and production samples to ensure product quality and compliance with approved designs.
• Identify and resolve design-related technical issues during prototyping, testing, and production.
• Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet production capabilities, quality standards, and customer expectations.

4. Innovation & Project Management

• Conduct market research to identify emerging packaging trends, innovative structural designs, and new development opportunities.
• Proactively propose creative and value-added packaging solutions to customers.
• Support the sales team in managing packaging development projects from initial concept and design through sampling, approval, and mass production.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design efficiency, material utilization, product functionality, and manufacturing performance.
• Ensure design activities and project deliverables are completed in accordance with customer requirements and agreed timelines.

Education and/or Experience

More than 5 years industrial design experience in packaging industry with an emphasis in structural design

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Needs working knowledge of Manufacturing procedures and ISO Standards & Procedures.

Understanding of Packaging Structure design software.

Need to know well about how to use Packaging Structure design software

Know how to use a sample cutting table and make mockup samples

High degree of accuracy is required. Often the job requires quick decisions under pressure. Frequently works under deadlines where interruptions often occur.

Proficient in English, both written and spoken, with the ability to communicate effectively in a business environment.
