POSITION OVERVIEW

The Chief Investment Officer is responsible for leading the Group’s investment activities, from investment strategy and opportunity development to M&A execution, portfolio management, and post-investment value creation. GELEX is seeking an investment leader with an investor mindset, independent judgement, and the ability to lead complex transactions; someone who can influence at senior leadership level, connect key stakeholders, and build a strong investment team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Investment Strategy & Capital Allocation
• Contribute to developing and updating investment directions, priority areas, and capital allocation proposals in line with the Group’s strategy.
• Investment Research & Opportunity Development
• Lead research on industries, markets, and companies; identify investment trends, opportunities, and risks.
• Develop investment theses and translate research insights into a relevant pipeline of investment opportunities.
• M&A & Transaction Execution
• Lead the end-to-end evaluation and execution of transactions, from opportunity sourcing, due diligence, valuation, structuring, and negotiation through to transaction completion.
• Coordinate relevant stakeholders in large or complex transactions; ensure analytical quality, investment discipline, and effective risk control.
• Present, challenge, and defend investment theses and proposals before senior management and relevant approval bodies.
• Portfolio Management & Post-Investment Value Creation
• Monitor and evaluate portfolio performance and recommend initiatives to improve investment returns and enterprise value.
• Work closely with portfolio companies to drive appropriate post-investment value creation initiatives.
• Senior-Level Influence, Partner Ecosystem & Team Development
• Work effectively with senior leaders and key stakeholders; provide independent investment views based on data and analysis.
• Build and effectively leverage a network of partners, financial institutions, investment funds, advisors, and other stakeholders to develop investment opportunities.
• Build and develop a high-performing investment team with strong professional capabilities, independent judgement, and investment discipline.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Professional Experience
• 12–15 years of experience in investment, M&A, Private Equity, corporate investment, or related fields, including at least 5 years in an investment leadership role.
• Proven track record of leading large or complex investment/M&A transactions across the investment lifecycle.
• Strong expertise in investment analysis, due diligence, valuation, transaction structuring, and negotiation.
• Experience in investment strategy, capital allocation, and/or portfolio management in a professional investment environment.
• Experience in portfolio management and post-investment value creation is an advantage.
• Leadership & Investment Capabilities
• Strong investment mindset and judgement, with the ability to form independent views and recommendations.
• Strong strategic thinking and analytical capability, with the ability to quickly understand new industries, business models, and investment opportunities.
• Proven ability to lead, build, and develop a professional investment team.
• Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior leaders, leaders of member companies, and relevant business partners.
• High standards of integrity, accountability, and professional discipline.
• Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Investment, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• CFA, MBA, or other relevant international qualifications/certifications are an advantage.
• Professional proficiency in English, including communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
