Overview

The Building Services BIM Engineer will play a key role in delivering coordinated design documentation across mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems using BIM tools and workflows. Working closely with our multidisciplinary engineering teams, the role translates design intent into fully coordinated BIM models and supports project delivery from early design.

The Building Services BIM Engineer will play a key role in delivering coordinated design documentation across mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems using BIM tools and workflows. Working closely with our multidisciplinary engineering teams, the role translates design intent into fully coordinated BIM models and supports project delivery from early design stages through to construction documentation on commercial, hospitality, cultural and mixed-use developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage coordinated BIM models for building services, including mechanical (HVAC), electrical, plumbing, drainage and fire protection systems, using Revit MEP.

• Translate engineers’ design markups, calculations and schematics into accurate 3D models, drawings and schedules.

• Carry out clash detection and multidisciplinary coordination with architectural and structural models (e.g. Navisworks), and track issues through to resolution.

• Ensure model quality, naming conventions and level of development (LOD) comply with the project BIM Execution Plan (BEP), ISO 19650 principles and client requirements.

• Prepare design and construction documentation, including plans, sections, details, riser diagrams and coordinated services drawings.

• Participate in internal and external model review and coordination meetings, and communicate design issues clearly in English.

• Maintain and improve Revit families, templates, shared parameters and office BIM standards.

• Support the design team in producing quantity take-offs, model extracts and construction coordination deliverables.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering (or a related discipline).

• Minimum 5 years of experience in BIM modelling and coordination of building services (MEP) systems.

• Solid foundation in either mechanical or electrical engineering, with general knowledge of plumbing, drainage and fire protection.

• High proficiency in Revit MEP and AutoCAD; experience with Navisworks, Dynamo or BIM 360 / ACC is an advantage.

• Familiarity with BIM standards and workflows (BEP, LOD, ISO 19650) and common design codes (ASHRAE, NFPA, local codes).

• Good English communication skills (written and spoken) for technical documentation and coordination.

• Detail-oriented, well organised, and able to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams to deadlines.

• Interest in digital design, automation and sustainable building solutions.
